Sofas for small spaces – and see our new arrival!

DFS Compact Sofa Review

If (like us) you've been on the hunt for a small sofa because you're limited on space, living in a studio flat, 1 bed flat or you have an awkwardly small space you'd like to have a sofa in (and actually be able to fit the thing through your front door or narrow hallway!) then read on!!

We had a new arrival to Fifi HQ as all the building work has been happening, and it's made me so happy.

Remember I showed you our living room 6 months on? It's not finished yet (when will it ever be) but we've made a little tweak to the room that's made it feel much more sociable and cosy when we're entertaining....

We got a new 2 seater sofa! Something I always wanted but never thought we could fit in the room.

Now initially, before we moved in, I thought we could easily fit another sofa in this room to sit alongside Mr Chesterfield, but some dodgy measuring later (oopsy) we realised the wall we were to have a 2 seater on was much too small.

We needed a 2 seater that was maximum 140cm wide and 90cm deep and everything I found online was too big. Sofas small enough just didn't seem to exist. So we ended up buying a single arm chair for the area and sacrificed having that 1 extra seat in the room.

THEN, DFS came to the rescue.

They recently released a new 'Compact' sofa range of contemporary and customisable sofas, armchairs, and foot-stools, created by DFS’ senior designer Rob Ellis and his talented design team, designed with smaller spaces in mind.

Each sofa comes with compact arm widths, and bolt-off removable arms, to ensure the range can easily be delivered and installed, regardless of narrow stairways or small door frames.

When I discovered the range I really couldn't believe my luck because I'd searched for hours for a 2 seater sofa small enough not to over empower our living room. The measurements of some of the Compact sofas I saw were UNDER the measurements I needed. So a nice snug fit!

The Capsule Collection range includes four sofa shapes, three armchairs, and three foot-stools, available in 45 fabric options to allow you to create the look you love.

We opted for the Compact Lull Sofa in Herringbone Grey as it seems like the sort of fabric that won't show up marks or stains and will wear well (not like our last grey sofa in our old flat! Remember how light that was in colour?? Nightmare to keep clean!)

Sofas start from £399 which I think is so affordable considering the sofas are made exclusively by a UK team for each order.  Have a look at some of the designs in the range, aren't they lovely?

I decorated my Lull sofa with my Bronte by Moon throw which I shared in my recent post The Best of Autumn Home Accessories) and I may change the legs to match the arm chair we have in the room as these are slightly too contemporary for me.

Overall so pleased with my sofa and can't believe we managed to squeeze one into this small space. Can't wait to entertain and actually have a proper seat for everyone in this room now!

Which sofa from the range do you like the look of? Have you ever had difficulty getting a sofa to fit your space? Tell me in the comments :)
